Exclamation Crankshaft position sensor location

Question for anyone that knows:
I have a 2010 Jetta TDI and when I plugged a computer into it it said that the crankshaft position sensor had no signal (I don't remember the exact code) so we bought a new sensor and we spent about four hours tonight looking for the old crankshaft position sensor on the engine block and I can't find it at all. I have looked on google and youtube and so many other places I am going crazy. So if anyone can help I would greatly apperciate it. Thanks!

I don't know if this is in the correct forum. I am just desperate for help.

It's down behind the oil filter housing area, you can see it in this pic with the filter assembly removed, it's that lone black plug.

More pics and useful info from the actual write up can be found here

I am trying to order this sensor for my 2010 VW Jetta 2.0 TDI as well, but I keep seeing two different ones to buy.
Here is the link to the one I think is right, but doesn't show up in the picture above.

Here is the other one

Now according to this VW Study Program (http://www.natef.org/NATEF/media/NAT...-0-TDI-SSP.pdf), on page 80 it shows the speed sensor (G28) and it looks identical to the first link. I'm going to go ahead and order it and see if thats the one and try to find if its the same install location.

I had a mine replaced. Below is a link to the thread. For me they had to remove the timing belt to replace the sensor, even though other's commented that it did not have to be removed.

It will come out the hole shown in seatman's pic. remove the connector and retaining bolts and it will slide out. Not real easy to get at.
