Hey all,
So i replaced the caliper on my MK4, is was the drivers rear. I checked it a few weeks later and it's dragging again and has wore the outer pad about half way already.

It was a wearever from Advance auto parts.
Did i get a bunk caliper?
I took it off and pressed the piston back in and it did seem to be a bit tough but those things are a bit tough anyway.

I was wondering if maybe a blockage in the line could cause it to not release?
But when i bled the line ( not with a pressure bleader, that is on the way in the mail...) it was flowing fine.
The slide pins on the new carrier are fine.
(the top pin on the old was has some play, but it appears as though the pin was manufactured to taper? I looks like 3 machined steps, unless thats just a really precise wear pattern.....the other (passenger) side is the same way but i have zero brake drag over there)

Could it be the ABS module?

Thanks for reading this long post.

you all are great

thanks

I’d try replacing the hose on that caliper. Sometimes they fail and become a “1 way valve” of sorts, when you step on the brakes the pressure goes into the caliper, but the caliper has trouble retracting because there’s less pressure that direction.

There are just too many to list....
A: aftermarket calipers from the parts store are junk

B: the parking brake cables fail about 11ty times more often than the calipers do
