That is the bug's fuel use. I'm not putting much money or repair effort into it but since it's on the road, legal, and the A/C works great, I've been using it. When the low fuel light and chime come on I make note of the trip distance, re-set it to zero, then add just 5 gallons when I get home.

Her Golf? Still waiting for a bit more space in the tank to finish pouring in the last of the 5 gallon jug then I'll post hers. Should be this month.

Just bought new 2014 Jetta TDI sedan

Just last Monday, 8/18/14 I bought my first new TDI Jetta "value edition" 2014 VW. I had under consideration, a new Ford Fiesta or Focus, a Toyota Prius, Dodge Dart with a 6 speed manual, & TDI for purchase over the Labor Day weekend when prices for left over new 2014 cars tend to be their lowest. I was also planning to check out the various prices with True Car, Costco in addition to various new car adds over the Labor Day weekend as many local dealers promise to match these adds so was not planning to buy last Monday. I really wanted to buy a Tdi sportwagon but their prices were to high. The salesman pressured me to take a test drive & the aprox $23,500 sticker price looked like there might be some barganing room so I low balled, I a price of $20,000 with zero down & 2% 72 month financing (I have excellent credit), excepting the dealer not to take my offer as I wanted more research time. They first rejected my offer but as I started to drive away they accepted my offer.

I don't know if I got the best possible price but with 2 year TDI's with "salvage titles" being offered being offered on Craig's List for $17,500 & 10 year old TDI's with over 100,000 miles still bringing $7,000 to over $10,000 or more I thought I would be money ahead with a TDI in views of the low depreciation, at least in the Sacramento & SF Bay area. The Jettra was my first choice, if I could afford it.

I took my first trip this weekend to attend the annual Citroen meet in in Ventura (LA area) The first fill up including local driving & then from Nevada City to the top of the "Grapevine" averaged 34 MPG, then from the Grapevine To Ventura & back to the Grapevine took less then 4 gallons & jumped to 42 MPG, then from the top of the Grapevine to Sacramento, it jumped to 44+ MPG with the A/C running much of the time & driving at the 70 MPH speed limit. My Jetta TDI is equipped with the "Tiptronic automatic, power windows, cruise control, SiriusXM radio, & more.
