Fuel temp sensor???

Greetings, all! I've done quite a bit of looking on here, and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I have an 06 jetta tdi, and recently got a check engine light. The code reads, "000387 Fuel Temp Sensor A(G81) Open short to plug". Where exactly is this sensor located? When I find it, I'll do the basic check of the wires, but is this a common part that fails and needs replacing? If so, what's the difficulty level for someone who is fairly mechanically inclined? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
