Can I use my free $500 VW dealership parts card to get a CR 170 turbo?

Hey all,

I got this free $500 vw dealership parts card last November, and haven't used it yet, because nothing has broken on the car. I think I've read somewhere on this forum that the European versions on the TDI use the CR-170 turbo, so has anyone tried to procure a CR-170 from the vw dealership with their free card? Would it be cheaper than just getting it from a different dealer? Any thoughts are appreciated, even the nasty ones.

Give it a shot and let us know how it works out! Might need a part number to give to them though as I doubt they can look it up without it.

I wouldn't be surprised if the dealership markup is $500 more than a competitive vendor (assuming they can get the euro parts). I got the dealership to match Tire rack on some new tires with my $500 card. I think I paid $800 for my CR170 kit which included a new intake pipe and some gaskets and such.

I don't think dealers are allowed to order Euro parts. Emissions laws etc. But it's worth a phone call if you got the p/n

As a check, I called the local stealership in my area, and for the normal CR 140 version, they want over $1500 for it, so that is about twice as much as some other places. I think I will look for some other components.
