Tail of the Dragon

I just took a trip to the mountains with the wife. I talked her into checking out HWY 129 and it was worth it!! I put big diesel into 3rd gear and took the whole tail twice. First North then back South. My wife Denise, got queezy halfway through the North route. The car did great even without performance tires. The torque band of this little engine is great. 3rd gear the whole way. Between 10 and 50mph with an average of about 35mph. The road is extremely well maintained. It is like a 13 mile roller coaster in your car. Next time I take the motorcycle(2003 Honda VTX 1800). Has anyone else ever tamed the Dragon's Tail? Oh and by the way, about 1100 miles total for the trip averaging 52mpg. The majority of which was up and down the mountains. The truck stop lady thought I was an idiot for trying to put diesel in my car but thats another story.

318 curves in 11 miles = great drive!!! Highly recommended (unless you're in an RV - don't spoil it for the rest of us! )

Dude, that looks too good to pass up, I think I will incorporate that into my trip out to Idaho for Christmas.
