If you are an owner of such a vehicle prior to 9/2015, this would be true. If you recently purchased a 2015 TDI that was sold back to VW from a previous owner, then Phase 1 was already done (couldn't be sold without Phase 1 being done), and Phase 2 is out in the future, and you would not be eligible for a restitution payment on either of the fix phases.

I'd love to buy a used 2015 TDI, and the best prices near me are all at non-VW places, but don't want to miss out on the bumper-to-bumper by going to a different dealer. If I could ALSO get the final 3rd of restitution by going to a non-VW dealer, that would be icing on the cake.
Are you talking about a new/never previously registered 2015 TDI purchase? Or are you talking about a used VW purchase that has a CPO warranty provided by the VW dealership? Or are you talking about purchasing an extended warranty at the time of purchasing the used 2015 TDI?

That's the crappy part of GEN 3

2/3 then 1/3 at a future unknown date

And it is really not all that much money ~~ in total

Then there is the hassle with BOSCH for the last little $350

.... but you get an immediate savings by NOT paying TT&L on a new ride.

.... 'bout $1,000 if this Okie does the fix.

.... best part of the fix for this ol' geezer is keeping the DSG and the TDi

.... and the possibility of netting more than $25,625 (total) when I do sell it sometime in the future.

.... or at least getting more tech in the 2019 or 2020 Golf (S) and still ride free.

Do the fix, pocket $8,000-ish 6, 776 miles on the clock, Pristine condition
BB = $25,625, but VW is not paying for PRIME condition nor ULTRA low miles.
Net bases in my 2015 Golf = $12,495
NADA-KBB for older CPO Golf TDi 2014 = $18,250

Sorry, it's a DSG, (no SEL with 6MT in the US) and we've owned it after the fix was preformed so I can't compare. I think we've been averaging 45, but I haven't been tracking it.

The second one - a used 2015 TDI. Ordinarily I would only expect CPOs to be available from VW dealerships, but these are not ordinary times, so I figure it doesn't hurt to ask, particularly since my dealer mentioned the 2-yr B-to-B warranty coming directly from VW, rather than the dealership. So basically, I'm wondering whether it comes with the fix, regardless of where you buy the car, or whether it only comes from fixed vehicles sold by VW dealerships.

It is my understanding (someone correct me if I am in error here) that a CPO is always a manufacturer-issued warranty extension. It's also a little different than a new vehicle basic (bumper-to-bumper) warranty on the VW side, in that each covered event has a $50 deductible applied before the warranty coverage picks up. Also a VW CPO has an additional limitation in addition to the 2-year period - it is limited to 24,000 miles (not unlimited).

Attached is a website link to the VW CPO Warranty booklet: http://www.vw.com/content/dam/vwcom/...l_Brochure.pdf

I don't think he's taking about a CPO.

It sounds like he is curious what kind of warranty a post-fix 2015 bought from a non-VW dealership has in regards to warranty.

Any word on the Gen 3 phase 2 fix for the 6MT?

I’m at the point of signing the Canadian claim for cash option 3 ($7000 over two payments) but haven’t heard any timeframe for phase 2 to commence. We’re into the second quarter of 2018 so VW has already missed their mark for “early 2018”

no solid time frame for phase 2 has been announced.

Some dealers are reaching out to owners stating they will have parts in May and scheduling appointments. But I wouldn't be holding my breath on those exact dates.

Cool Phase 2 started

My 2015 Golf TDI Sportswagon today went in for phase 2 fix. It will take 2 days and they gave a loaner. Apparently the fix instructions are over 40 pages long. It was the first fix done at that dealership in Florida

So the Gen III (EA288 engines) Phase II fix is now available for MY2015 2.0L vehicles?

I'm traveling this week, but as of Sunday, I had not received any kind of notification this fix was available.

olek911, how were you made aware the Phase II fix was available and ready for your vehicle?

It is approved and available. Yesterday I received a phone call from the dealer that did the phase 1 fix for my car to schedule phase 2 for next Tuesday.

If I had to guess, I would say either some dealers are more proactive than others about scheduling fixes, or it is not available everywhere yet and dealers are offering it as they get all the info/techs are familiarized or trained (hopefully) in the process.

OK, so the notification process appears to be from dealers who did the Phase I fix. I live quite some distance from the dealer that did the Phase I fix, and it was done before I bought it, so I don't think that dealer knows where this car is and won't be contacting me. I was thinking VW would be doing the notification. At least I know now the fix is out there now and some dealers are starting it, so I'll check with our local dealer once I get back home.

Would be great if someone could start a new thread on post-Phase II fix install impressions.
