Just bought a one owner 03 Jetta tdi with the maintenance records & 140,000 miles. Silver with auto trans and all stock, like new tires, fresh struts, timing belt / waterpump change at 99,000 all for $1700. So far I'm one happy guy.
sounds like a good deal ... now have the timing belt redone by a guru unless you know 100% it was done correctly and with all the parts replaced with quality components... hint:
there is more to a t belt job than belt and pump
I had mine done recently with everything I could buy for the timing service and the previous owner had it done at 100k (just did it at 155k) and everything was original except the belts. So it was really good that I did it early as I was suspecting that many other parts were old.
Parts that go in are timing belt and serpentine belt. Rollers, tensioner, alternator pulley, water pump, many bolts, and I also did the thermostat.
