The Nurburgring 24 Hours does not feature any diesel cars in the top 30. But it has just gone green. You can hear the race commentary on Radio LeMans, of course, but http://www.radiolemans.com also has a link to live video.

At the Nurburgring 24 the top class is GT3, with cars manufactured by Audi, Mercedes, Aston Martin, BMW, McLaren, and Porsche.

Someone on Radio LeMans was asked in an email or Tweet, why don't these cars run at Le Mans? The answer was, at Le Mans the prototype classes, LMP1 and LMP2, are at the top. the GT classes are carefully defined so they do not compete head-to-head with the prototypes.

The GT3 class at the Nurburgring is not so strictly regulated; that is why so many very different cars can race against each other, in both factory and customer teams.

Another great victory for Audi Sport in a 24-hour endurance race, this time with the Audi R8. Two for two in the month of June.

"The Meuspsath based Team Phoenix Racing has won the 42nd ADAC Zurich 24h Race at the Nürburgring. At the end of an enormously exciting race with a total of 32 changes in the first position, Christopher Haase / Christian Mamerow / Rene Rast / Markus Winkelhock won the race with their Audi R8 LMS ultra #4, followed by Jeroen Bleekemolen / Andreas Simonsen / Christian Menzel / Lance David Arnold in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 #1 entered by last year’s winners Black Falcon. In addition to winning the race, the victorious squad also established a new distance record by completing 159 laps on the 25.378-kilometre combination of GP circuit and Nordschleife, representing a total mileage of 4,035.102 kilometres. The podium was completed by Michael Zehe / Christian Hohenadel / Nico Bastian / Maro Engel and their Rowe Racing gull-wing racer #22. With Audi, Aston Martin, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche, five brands made it to the top six positions in one of the most thrilling 24h Races of the recent past."

It would be nice if the FIA WEC races pop up like that.
