Passat stalls when put in gear

If my 15 Passat has been sitting for a couple of hours, if I start it and immediately put in it gear it will roll forward slightly and stall the engine. If I restart everything is fine.

Has anyone else has this issue and is it doing damage to the clutch packs?

How many miles on it? 128K?

DSG? when was the fluid changed out?

There are just too many to list....
Sounds like the 1-3-5 clutch is dragging.

I would do this (requires a VAG capable scan tool):

Verify the M-unit has no DTCs.

Run the clutch adaption procedure.

See if anything changes.

Also, are you 100% certain it has the correct fluid in it? The 02E DSG uses a specific type of fluid.

2013 Passat TDI stalls in Drive and Reverse

HI

I have a similar problem that surfaced last week. I had the HPFP crap out on me (you can read my other thread and frustration with a crook dealer in Toronto); who blamed that I added gas to my diesel after adding gas to the tank. It should have been covered by VW under extended emissions warranty.

Anyways fast forward, I had another dealer change the HPFP (as I was afraid of getting the timing incorrect if I did it myself). The car did not start after the HPFP was replaced, so I brought it home and cleaned the RAIL and replaced the injectors with used that I bought from Ebay. I also changed the fuel filter and flushed the lines and cleaned the tank. Filled it with fresh Diesel and it ran fine for about 10,000kms until this problem surfaced.

The problem is that it stalls when I put it into drive and let go the brake and press the Gas pedal. I understand how DSG works and if I do press on the gas too quickly it could stall. That is not the case here. I cannot seems to make a left turns any more and it stall on when taking off traffic light. It does same when in reverse. The only thing that helps it in not stalling it when I let go really slowly and even then if you press on gas there is no throttle response for at least 2 to 3 seconds. I tried backing in a parking spot today and it stalled 3 times.

I already ran a clutch adaptation procedure and it did not help.

It lacks power when driving but when pushed would got 4500 RPM on up hills. It doesn't seems to have the torque it use to have. There are no codes except for one for MAF and Intake Temp Sensor. I have cleaned the MAP (03G 906 051E) but it still the same.

I also unplugged the MAF but nothing changes. I checked the Air filter and it looks reasonably clean. Also removed the Air Filter and did short test drive, no change.

Also after doing a lot of research for this issue with stalling some have reported that there is a Firmware update that a dealer can do to fix stalling issues. I talked to the dealer and they said they have not heard anything like that.

Speaking of dsg, is Pentocin the best fluid or something else?

Stalls when put in drive or reverse

Well got a call from the dealer and they cannot figure out what is wrong with the engine. There are no codes. So there course of action is to change the whole fuel system and follow the protocol for mis-fueling. I reminded them that they had already changed the hpfp that I had bought brand new from ebay. I had cleaned the system and installed refurbished injectors. Also the car ran fine for 2500kms after all this work was done. They have no answers at this point.

Looks like my car is going to be a write off. There is no way I m paying them $9000 to fix the car when it’s only worth $6000 in running condition.

Thank you VW for another screw up and doing emissions fix on my car.

IDparts has elcheapo ROWE that I'll be sourcing for the first change in the Alltrack in about a month.

Others (GTI R owners) swear by VW branded fluid, and everything else is garbage, but i'll gladly save $40-50.

Also you can try Liquimoly, we ran that in our '12 Passat with no ill effects.
