Fuel Filter change, primed filter, ran for 30 seconds

and then died. It will not start up now. Check to see if filter was filled it was and then I removed the filter and used the water drain to drain a little out. Top off filter with diesel. Reinstalled filter and still not starting. Once in a while I get a puff of white smoke out of the exhaust.

It's on a 2002 Jetta. Any other suggestions. I've tried to turn over for 20 seconds. Wait a minute and repeat three more time and then wait 10 minutes and repeat. I have been doing this for the past couple of hours.

Thanks!!! It's running now. It was a simple fix.. All I had to do was post a thread here and it started. I should have done this two hours ago.
