ive got what appears to be a german aaz being transplanted into a volkswagen vanagon. originally the van was a NA 1.6, then it had a 1.9td (aaz) poorly installed by another shop. The aaz going into it has a number of parts on the injection pump that are not mentioned in the us bentley manual- namely a vaccum control valve that operates a cord and lever on the injection pump. its has a vacuum control valve next to the turbocharger control valve. im curious about this valve and also the turbo control valve- is this controlled by the glow plug module? thx

This is what an AAZ pump should look like. The small vacuum pot on the top right, and it's associated cable, bracket and the pot, can be removed. It does nothing. The LDA (larger bump on the top, is controlled by intake manufold pressure. It's just a small line that goes to the elbow on the intake manifold.

This is the other side of the same pump. The contraption you mentioned, has something to do with air conditioning high idle, I believe.
