I have a 2003. Aside from changing the oil, what else can I do, or should I do to the engine? I want to take care of it as much as I can, but I am diesel challenged until I receive more education. Secondly, any simple tweaks I should do to better enhance the potential for this engine? Appreciate your advice. JH.

I have a 2001 Golf 5-speed GLS. I'm not at all mechanically competent, but I have a fellow tdiclub member who is do all my maintenance and related work. My take is that following the maintenance schedule in your manual to the letter is the best way to treat your car's engine. Also to use fully synthetic oil, such as Mobil Delvac-1 5W-40.

I'm not moved to chip my car, as I think it causes more problems (clutch, etc.) than benefits. I would, however, have the EGR modification done a.s.a.p. via Vagcom.
