I was debating if I should post this in the forsale section, but I'm not selling anything. What I *have* been doing is following a Certified Pre-Owned 2015 BMW 740Ld on Cars.com and the price has been dropping a lot. Its physically located at BMW of Peabody, MA.

http://www.bmwpeabody.com/certified/BMW/2015-BMW-740i-79b1b60a0a0d0cc75505b71347d74855.htm

I first saved it in March when it was in the $50s and now in May its still available for about ~$10k less than I originally saw it for. Its Certified Pre-owned, 21k miles, heated and cooled massaging *front and rear* seats. Awd, 413 lb-ft of torque. If I didn't already have an S350 and installed a sub, I'd go buy it.

I feel like someone needs to give it a good home. And if any club knows diesel enthusiasts its TDIclub.

The 740Ld is identical to my 2014 535d under the hood, IIRC. The N57 engine has been proving to be very solid engine. And while I'm a diehard manual transmission guy, I have found the 8-speed auto tranny in my 535d to be one automatic transmission that I really DO like.

A 5-series normally depreciates like a stone. A 7-series depreciates like a boulder. Anybody in the market for a used 7-series should be able to find a good deal on a 740Ld. The price is probably dropping because nobody is biting on it (yet).

As a data point, my loaded 2014 535d was $85k new in 2013. It's a loaded 5-series and the price was entering 7-series territory. At only 104k miles, it is worth around $24k today (trade-in around $18k). It took a hit due to the miles. I'm not worried about resale value because it won't be for sale anytime soon. Given the 740Ld was originally listed for around $50k in March and is around $40k now, it might be possible to negotiate them down into the $30k range.

:)

Oh boy, that thing is beautiful. Right colors, too.
Come on IBW, you know you want it... with the comfort seats :)

Actually when I was shopping the S350, I really wanted one with the rear power seats and rear climate... until I sat my kids (aged 5 and 1) in the back and asked them what they thought. 5 minutes later everything was moving in the back of the car and I was like, wow this is going to drive me crazy. So I dropped that requirement. As it is they still love playing with the rear shade and ceiling mirrors.

My kids would probably play with that stuff, too, but they're 28 and 30. :)

Dropped another $500 today to $41,995. I should go test drive it. I suppose I could fit another car in the garage with a lift...

It would be interesting to drive a 740Ld and compare it to the 535d. I imagine it's a bit slower off the line. Although this is a "BMW" section, I also notice Prime Audi has 2016 A8, A7 and A6 TDIs for sale. Might as well drive them all.

I drove my 335d to work today. To me that feels like a big car. I can't imagine what the 740 would feel like. I'd probably wonder if I was in just one lane.

You might be the first person to express interest in it. Don't be too eager to buy yet if interested. You might be able to negotiate the price down some more and get down into the $30k range.

Good luck.

I looked at a 2015 740Ld with 21,000 miles on it. I had the nice colors I liked but the dealer wouldn't budge on the price which was too high. Now the car has been sitting at the same dealer about a year and a half and is much lower in price.

I didn't buy it for that reason and because I'm not interested in AWD.

Happy with my choice of a left-over 2016 535d - probably the second last one on the East Coast.

Yuck. My least favorite color combo. I was hesitant to buy the '15 GSW my dealer had left last year because it was white. But the black interior saved it. Beige would have been a deal killer.

When I bought my 2002 Jetta it was reflex silver. I bought it with 3000 miles on it. Turns out it was then the most popular color.

When I bought my 2015 Passat I had the choice of a white, black and burgundy color. Black looks fantastic when just washed. Burgundy about the same. I chose white, turns out currently white is the most popular color.

Both cases are for all makes of cars.
