just inherited a 2000 golf tdi from my father i have some issues with it running he spilled 5 gallons of diesel on floor so i am rippig out all interior to try to get smell out . anyone have suggestions if or how this can be most efficiantly done. mechanicaly the car runs and drives but it has no power from half pedal to full throttle. my dad had his hack mechanics replace all pulleys glow plug relay and harness, he had the injectors rebuilt and reintalled. the engine light is on and it has the follwing codes dtc 16764 glow plugs q6
18009 relay for power supply terminal 30 p1601
16687 cylinder 3 misfire ( doesnt seem to be constant its not running rough and blowing white smoke. p0303
and 17964 turbo pressure control limit below normal.
i have diesel trucks some i am familar with the workings of engine. i bought car for 1000 dollars and dont want to spend big money to get running if i dont have to. i am 99 percent sure i will never get the diesel smell out of car. the pad under carper behind front seats soaked a year later. if one of the gurus can help i would appreciate it. if i cant fix i will sell and try to recoup my money. i am thinking that someone out there might not care the car has no interior left but front seats. maybe deisel track car?

You will have to remove any cloth interior parts including head liner to get rid of diesel smell. This means the seats, padding, door cards, etc. Then thoroughly clean with a solvent that will dissolve diesel fuel. Hose out and clean with wet/dry vac.

Have you considered just junking the vehicle?

Find a guru or trusted mechanic near you by clicking here. I got that map link from this thread.

Have them take a look at it and estimate the work to get it running again without fault.

TDIs are very particular cars, it's very important your mechanic be familiar with them (even european car specialists can mess up a TDI if they're not familiar with these specific engines).
