96 Passat TDI - Can't stop vacuum pump oil leak

When I bought the car, the vacuum pump had not been fully seated and was leaking around the o-ring. I reinstalled the pump correctly, but oil still leaks pretty good from around the base o-ring. Any suggestions?
I've tried replacing it, but it didn't seem to make any difference.

Things to check:
*You are using a new seal?
*The mating surfaces were not marred by mis-installation.
*The mating surfaces are clean.

If the mating surfaces were marred then a SMALL amount of sealer can be used to seal it up.
