What a surprise, good review on 1/2 ton diesel

http://www.freep.com/article/20140515/COL14/305150015/ram-1500-diesel-phelan

The four-star 2014 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel pickup sets a tough standard for other pickups. Even the highly touted aluminum-bodied 2015 Ford F-150 going on sale late this year may have a hard time beating the Ram’s fuel economy and comfort.
Ford and GM could not see enough merit in diesel 1/2 ton to bring to market. Ram is getting positive reviews in the press and even better the sales number are very good.

GM has announced that they are bringing a 2015 MY half-ton diesel pickup. Haven't heard for sure that others are but I have read in articles that they do plan at some point to do so. Undoubtedly other manufacturers do plan, will be required to bring one here to meet CAFE requirements...

Nissan and Ford were the makes that I have read have plans they are firming up on a half-ton diesel powered model....

25+ mpg will be great. I had a Nissan frontier for a rental car in Dallas this week. Four door crew cab with the v6 that just barely got 15 mpg.

TDI-less... own a RAM 1500 Diesel now
Love my RAM 1500 diesel. Get about 28 MPG highway, when I'm towing I get about 22MPG. Very happy with the truck, had it over 6 months now and over 20,000 miles.

There are very few over 25mpg tank averages on fuelly, a truck that is 6500 lbs and is the aerodynamic equal of a brick isn't going to average 30mpg, I bought into fords bs with the eco boost and had a 10k mile mpg of 14.4mpg, if our tdi 1.9 manuals get 35-45 a truck that has twice the weight and all the gov emissions is going to struggle to get 20mpg.

Can you link me to the Fuelly link showing the diesel 1500?

I see one and it isn't a new one.

I have a 14 ram 2500 diesel and have a 7000 mile mpg of 17, if you look at fuelly there's 3 1500s that got 28 and 2 ram 2500s that got 27, I think 20mpg would be a real world # on the 1500 diesel.

I don't have any problems yet. The def is easy to add. Nice to have lots of room, but it's harder to fit into parking spaces.

That's the biggest reason my wife doesn't want a full sized truck. She hated parking the avalanche.

Parking a full sized is fun. I just park the same way tho--find a spot out away from everyone else, and pull thro. That way if I'm not quite right no one cares.
