I've been looking on Craig's list for cars. The prices always seem to be higher than thebbook value whether it be nada, Edmunds or Kelly's. I'm looking for inexpensive car and the stuff I see on craig's Boston area are $1, 000+ in the price range I'm looking. How can I get true value of car?

I'm looking to purchase older passat tdi, best places to look?

Thank you

Check out Foobert.

Most people who know these cars know they fetch higher prices than their gas equivalents. Those who do not, or those selling a trashed car, are the ones selling the 'cheap' TDI's.

Good luck. They can be found, but you have to check often and pounce when you find something.

Are you planning to do the work that a $1K Passat will need yourself?
It will likely need plenty.

Condition (especially here above the rust belt) and Maint history is key on these older TDI's
