Where to start.

About a year ago I lost the ability to use both my FOBs. At that time I felt like I had a Central Convience issue as I was unable to re-program my FOBs.

Now I have gremlins... Driving the horn honks. The LED on the driver door stays on, the locks dont work some times and the lights in the cabin are going crazy (sometimes they work and sometimes they just stay on).

So does this confirm that my module is shot? Where is this box and has anyone seen this before?

Here is my VAG scan. The Engine ones I know about, EGR and glow plug I can fix.

I've read some about a thing called 'coolant migration', could this
be it??? I really don't know, but it's a place to start!

Don't think so, I've done the migration modification to the bottle. I wanted to see if others felt like it was the convience module. And frankly where is the module that is giving me trouble?

Seems like every day it is a different 'issue'. This morning I had a signal that I had a door open on the cluster but couldn't find door open. About 3 miles down the road the light went off.

I'll re-scan tonight.

The switch in your drivers door is bad. I think there is a thread somewhere on a $3 fix for that... .lemme look.

Yup, here it is!

See if that don't fix y'all's problem!

OK, I go to re-scan tonight after the wife got home with it. The LED on the driver door is on, no inside lights and the light on the radio is blinking. Locks don't work and I can't open the truck. And when I go to scan it, i can not get any communications. So I disconnect the battery and now I got a scan of it. What to make of all this?

So a bad door switch would cause all this?

Just a stab in the dark, have you physically looked at the CCM? VW did a bad thing and placed them on the floor where they are susceptible to flooding/water damage...

35 is for central locks, and I don't see anything for 46. It could be the lock or the CCM at this point, you need to isolate where the problem is occuring.

Right now, it's hard to tell.

I don't know if this applies to the MK4, but those problems in a mk3 would lead me to believe it was a failing ignition switch

Double check and reseat all fuses in the fusepanel on the end of the dash. Had a customer's Jetta in here once for a deck. For some reason, turning on the parking lights would also pop the trunk......... pulled and reseated the fuses, found a 15A ATC that was loose (almost falling out) that also happened to be one of the CCM fuses. Reseated, and all strange things stopped.

The other thing would be to check the grounding points in the driver's kickpanel, beside the column, and under the battery tray for tightness/lack of corrosion. A loose ground can do all sorts of interesting things in these cars. This doesn't sound like a failed contoller, rather it sounds like a failed connection or supply line to that controller.

Check the fuses first, then go after the grounds.
