Testing egr while its off the car

Anyone know how to power egr while its off the engine to check and see if it moves ok? 2011 jetta tdi

If you have Vagcom you can go to output tests in the Engine directory I believe. I remember seeing an EGR valve output test in there.

Thanks. Dont have Vagcom( will get one if I keep car) I was able to test general operation by applyimg 5 volta to terminals 6 and 2 and before any cleaning the plunger tried to move then after cleaning had full movement. Hope that was my issue. Going to check exhaust flap operation next and them clear code and drive a few days. If code comes back I will just let VW diagnose and decise if its worth fixing before the "fix"
