Exhaust flap refund ?

I had work done in March 17 on my 2010 Jetta, after I accepted VW offer to keep my car. As my car had 130,000 miles, it wasn't covered under the extended 120,000 warranty on the exhaust flap.
Now, this part is covered under the extended 4yr/48,000 dieselgate warranty. Can I expect that VW will refund me to fix the issue, as I had this work done while I was waiting for them to find a fix to 2010 models ?

my guess is no.

Nope warranty was extended with the fix after you replaced the part, and you weren't eligible to the fix until the part was replaced.

It's the stupid pos I've been removing, cleaning, and lubing for the past 30-40K miles not knowing they would replace it for free. When I scheduled my fix, I told them I still had the old part number on my car and asked if they would put the improved one on while it was there. She said only if it was throwing a cel....unbelievable. So now (If I wasn't planning to mod the car when it's done) I would need to wait until it began malfunctioning again to get it swapped. The wisdom of vwoa is awe inspiring and never-ending.

Why should VW replace a part that isn't indicating it needs replacing?

Seeing the HPFP is warrantied too, why not ask them to replace that under warranty too? Heck use up that corrosion warranty quick too, ask then to replace all your rockers ASAP!

The wisdom of people demanding more than what is owed is awe inspiring and never ending.

It started causing problems long before VW initiated a campaign to replace them. Rather than buying a new one, I chose to learn how to service it so it doesn't cause more problems, and never received any information from VW telling me it is now replaced for free. Just learned that last week actually. But your personal attack and negative comments towards me is duly noted. Have a great day and don't forget to tip your waitress.

Not to hijack but I just made my appointment for gen 1 fix. Been chasing an egr issue and told service manager. Told him that replcing the exhaust flap and egr filter might solve the issue. He agreed and said bring car in for fix. He stated if issue persists "after" fix is complete than it would be diagnosed then. Not sure what to believe but we will find out tomorrow

Yesterday BleachedBora posted the parts lists for the Gen 1s. http://forums.tdiclub.com/showpost.php?p=5317388&postcount=500
For 2010+ a new Flapper is on the list. So, it appears (hopefully) that those of us who still need the improved Flapper will get one in the fix. My appointment is Tues, so I'll found out soon.

I was hoping so. I got my car back yesterday and the invoice doesn't include a flapper. It has everything else though. I'll be changing the oil in the next few days and will find out for sure.

I had modification done on my car, and you are correct about the conversion kit number. My only question, how did you find out about parts within the kit ?
