Tail light bulbs on Golf

Maybe this is covered somewhere else but I can't find it.

Does anyone know the the correct part numbers and cross references for a 2001 Golf TDI tail light bulb. The bulb that was in the car is marked:
OSRAM 5008 12 V
R10W
I think that's a 10 watt bulb.
The OSRAM website says the correct bulb is a 5007 (think that is that same bulb size/shape but 5 watts instead of 10.
A NAPA dealer this morning wanted to sell me a 5 Watt Bulb.

The stealership I just called says it should be a 1056 but that makes no sense cause a 1056 is the wrong size/shape on the glass and besides it's amber instead of clear.

Did my car come with the wrong bulbs?
Did VW change the recommended bulb?
Anyone know?

The Osram site is wrong. It's a 5008. The Osram package for 5008 states it is a R10W.

I just replaced one of mine a few weeks ago and double checked the package with the remaining bulb (they come 2 to a package).

What he said. I just replaced one as well and noted the discrepancy. Just double-check the bulbs you're picking up (assuming you're buying these in person and not ordering them). Nothing beats taking the burnt-out one with you.

N 017 732 2 (P21W12V21W) bulb for rear fog light, turn signal, backup light

N 017 719 2 (G12v10W0) bulb tailight
