Brought my 2010 jetta TDI in for diagnosis on what I had hoped was not a mechatronics unit failure, and sure enough that's the diagnosis that has come back.

I've got some questions if anyone has a recommended repair facility for sending my mechatronics unit out to for rebuild.

It seems the unit is not completely gone- it seems to function fine when "cold"
The car lurches and bangs gears while hot- primarily 1-2 and 2-1 and Neutral/Park-Reverse.

some background on car- 111k mi, all stock, DSG fluid changed twice so far 1@40k, 1@80k

No code has been thrown- or no light on the dash anyways, I don't have VCDS.

 :(

You are going to need VCDS to do any diagnostics on the DSG:
Here are a cople of european lnks on troubleshooting your problem: http://www.evosoft.dk/DSGRepair.html
Here is a Finish site with much the same information: http://www.mectronic.fi/en/ohjeet/
The only independent shop that rebuilds the DSG in the U.S. is Dubbles out of Reading, Pennsylvania they sell rebuilt transmissions under the name AutoBahn Transmission Exchange to licensed mechanics only. I have used them for a 01M and they were easy to deal with. I did have a bad valve body in the reman unit but they shipped the replacement valve body and things have been fine since. They are around half the price of the VW reman even with the replacement of the valve body figured in (01M). Here is their website: http://www.atetrans.net/ Note they offer reman and new mecharonic units in their transmissions. Also note that using a new mechatronics unit bumps the DSG price from $2,595 to 3,095. Here is their website: http://www.atetrans.net/vw-automatic-pricing.html

Brought to a local dealer and convinced them to do the clutch relearn procedure.

Seems better, at least no banging between park-drive and park-reverse now. There is still a small shudder when slowing to 0mph in 1st, and beginning to accelerate from a stop.

After driving the car when I brought it in, the head service mechanic agreed that the mechatronics unit was likely not at fault, and went to his computer to do some research and informed me that he had never heard of this clutch relearn procedure and agreed to attempt it.

About an hour after handing over my keys- service writer came over to inform me they were unable to do the relearn as a stationary procedure and they'd need to do it as a "rolling relearn" - I was wondering if anyone has any insight into this?
