VW called and said they couldn't get 10 day payoff amount, left no # to call back

VW called, I couldn't answer. They left a message saying that my bank would not release a ten day payoff amount with my consent.

1. Wouldn't the consent letter take care of that?
2. I just called my bank and they said that is bs. They would release the ten day payoff amount, just not other info.

Of course, VW didn't leave a phone number or extension to call back. When I dial the number on my caller ID, it prompts you to enter in numbers, so it is basically worthless to call the number back.

Anyone experience a similar problem? Anyone have a real # to speak with a settlement specialist, not the generic claims phone # on the claims site?

Par for the course....wouldn't expect anything different from the highly effective VW claim department. Man that sucks, hope they call back.

Is it possible that was a fishing attempt?

Here's a situation where a call in to the claims line is warranted; they ought to have additional info.

Some forum members have said their lenders kicked back payoff requests without the loan number / account suffix noted.

I was wondering the same thing, especially since after dialing it, it prompts me to enter a number to reach someone, or opt for mailbox.

However, after tracing the #, it is definitely VW.

So basically, they don't want us to call, or the rep forget to leave a # and extension.

I called claims and was told by the rep that it was a different department that called me and she:

1. could not transfer me (not capable)
2. did not have a # for that other department.

Wow, that's no good. I guess for you it's claims telephone roulette. Some others have had success reaching more seasoned / knowledgeable / helpful claims reps when calling first thing when they open, 7am eastern.

Keep us updated. I'm still waiting, too, and I don't have a loan number written on my release.

I received an offer package complete email this morning, now I'm at step 17 after submitting my notary documents.

Not sure if I take this as the prior issue being resolved or not.

What step are you on?
