Would you buy a used/flashed TDI buyback?

Maybe a TDI in the future. For now... D - 82 Rabbit, 63 190d; H - 00 Insight, 05 Prius ; G - 82 RN30
With the fallout from VW's emissions "mods", there's a decent chance that VW will buy back some vehicles from dissatisfied owners, flash the ECU with a tune that will meet emissions standards during normal driving, and resell those cars.

If that happens, how much less than the book value would you pay for a TDI that presumably had slightly worse mileage and noticeably worse (Prius-like?) acceleration? I'm looking (hoping I guess) for something like a ~30-40% reduction in book price to nab a used highish mileage TDI, but that might be too optimistic.

Who knows? We do not know what will happen. We do not know that there will even be a buyback (it is probably rather doubtful). We also do not know how much of an effect any "fix" will have on out performance or economy. In other words, this is another new thread just adding to the rampant idle speculation. The media may be obsessed with this VW situation, but there is no need for us to do the same. It is just too soon to have a clue what lies in the future.

This is not really a "General VW Discussion" question. This belongs in that same big thread about the emissions fiasco.

Have Fun!
