Finally made some progress on my DIY GTD conversion. Got the bumper with all the trimmings from Ebay, just needed a new mesh grill and the holes for the previous owner's California front license plate filled. Did all prep & paint work myself. (I do all my own stunts)

I still need to wire up the fogs and I have a GTD grill badge on order from E-Acca so still a bit more to do here but I'm happy with it.

GTI, R, Clubsport and Alltrack bumpers are basic swaps within our Mk. (Mk7 to Mk7 only)

Mounted some new summer 16s.

I was going to balance them, but this time I'm trying the steel shot trick....

I put 10oz in each tire. See what happens.

Forget that trick, it will not do anything but really screw up balance.

If you've ever gotten water in a tire you will know what I mean.

Airlift bag in a H&R spring. Pretty sure I'm the first one to do that.

Now it sit the same with or without trailer.

I run loaded tires on the 3500 srw. I occasionally hit the road and get fuel.

Never notice any difference.

This is the airlift 80753, it is perfect for stock height spring.
But, if I was to do it again I would use the airlift 80777 which is 1,75 inch shorter.

Because I'm running lower than stock (H&R) spring, I ended up not using the supplied "spacer/protector" in order for them to fit in.
Time will tell if its going to affect their durability.

I've heard they need a minimum PSI otherwise they'll develop a tear along the body of them, keep an eye on them.

How are you routing the filling port/valve? I've been toying with the idea of placing mine by the fuel filler door.

Yeah, I heard that... Pretty much impossible to remove them without damaging the bag. If/when they fail I'll install the shorter kit.

Valve are under the bumper, pretty much invisible without kneeling.

This above looks really clean man. Nice! If I have the need to put a hitch on mine I’ll do this for sure for the trailer lights.

whoa, you went with two valves and not a T so each bag are even? you going to fine tune each bag depending if there is a passenger or not?

very nice install, did you have to pull the bumper cover off to mount those?

No removal needed.
It's not really for fine tuning, it's to find out quickly which one is leaking!

No removal needed? So, you can just reach into the centre cavity and route the air lines from there (?).

Or do you just mean that the bottom valance comes off separately / cleanly?

Driving home the other night (clear, perfect summer evening), suddenly I get a warning message that "FRONT ASSIST SENSOR BLOCKED"
(?!)
Only ever seen this before in the winter when snow/slush builds up on it.

Get home and...

[Insert Batmobile joke here]
