The 7163 has the turbine more of a diagonal machine that radial in that case you get of material this means less material as weight and special when it is at the tips the moments of inertia gets less with means it spools faster, by this construction it is suppose to able to convert more energy at low flow and not be so restrictive at high flow. In the end this shall spools quicker than 6758 but give at least as much topp end power as the 7064, there are some test of tuning companies but as most times it is limited and you can start to think want they want to prove.... so time would tell

This is how I understood it

^ That's a mixed-flow turbine.

BTW, that's not the MFT I was referring to - majesty78 is correct. I meant I was guessing that the tuning company in Germany was Milewski Fahrzeugtechnik.

The main thing to get in turbo machinery is relinking and diffusion of flow and how it interacts with the Eulers equation, and in this case the transit response of the unit

It is actually possible to built turbos that much wider span in flow and higher pressure rate and efficiency, key thing is that they are to complex for today but perhaps not for tomorrow, and the manufacturer need to make money of it as well

I think Borg warner Efr serie is interesting if you need that kind of performance, and specially when it is supported by match boot that makes it fun to play with
but if is in you taste and often cost as well

I hope BW also have an updated friction welding procedure for the newer EFR turbos ;)

I sincerely hope they got it now, but I think I have asked more then 30 seller about the friction welding and NO one has responded on it
time will tell
I found this at

yes, one of borgwarner's suppliers messed up on an early batch of 6258s, all were replaced under warranty and the rest of the EFRs have been solid.

Anyone who is a fan of Indycar Racing - there were zero EFR turbo failures during the IRL season. The teams all use EFR6758 x2 or EFR9180 x1

strange that they would pass such a turbo in quality control.. anyway, if its not a clone, or clone housing, the metal should be ok and some cleaning up of rhe casting marks should be all thats needed..

I like the old out feat more, very nice to even look at, apparently to much fault rate of that casting if i got it right
So you have one can you chair some experience?

Have you tried the bigger A/R to come to the conclusion that it was to big?

I was interested to know if you had use BW macth bot for performance predicate and evaluate the outcome in real application. I have done simulations but have not yet been able to evaluate the performance in real to see how accurate the program is

I see
my point was looking for good feed back of good number is put in how well it puts out, I was simply curious of a match bot file and a what the engine braked after the tuning so I could see how well they ended up, because I have not find it yet

Many years ago I did some CFD simulating and try to verify the result with helium trace gas measurement in a non engine enviroment, it was not easy in many ways even if the input was good numbers...

basicly this is much simoplere, the most critical input is bsfc and then vol efficiency.. if those 2 are correct the output should be well into the ballpark
