Road trip: RI to Outer Banks, NC
Early Sat., I'll be departing and plan to take 95 to Wilmington, DE, and thereafter 13 to Norfolk and on to Kill Devil Hills.
On the way back north on Thurs Apr 19, it'll be local roads to Richmond, and 95 all the way back to PVD.
I've printed out the trusted mechanics list, but am now soliciting additional information from those who are familiar w/ the route and perhaps would recommend a TDI specialist who is close by.
There are no issues w/ my wagon which has over 220K miles, but I'd feel a lot better knowing whom to call along the way if the need arises. Sure I'll be fine, just in case...
Honk if you see my silver Jetta wagon.
Thanks in advance!

We've gone to Corolla every year but one since 1990.
We go NJ Turnpike to Route 13, then 64 - 168 - 158.
95 goes through Philly, and is a little longer than just staying on the pike.
It's actually 64 east you want to get on, which is not what you would expect, as you are heading west. It's a little hook at the end of 64 east that curves to the west.
The first exit for 168 is 168 Business and was the only option years ago. The highway is the next exit.
We really enjoy the drive down. Fun drive.

Do you have a specific reason to go through Richmond on the way north? We did that one year. It's much longer.

Cooper,
I mentioned Richmond b/c we'll be returning north via 95, and as a readily identifiable landmark to those who live in the area and may know of a local TDI mechanic/guru. I'm hoping someone who can recommend someone for my stated routes will chime in.

If you could be a little more specific about the "local roads to Richmond" I would happily chime in with my opinions about those "local roads" if they're on the Williamsburg side of the James.
As for Richmond and north I would strongly recommend taking 301 in lieu of 95 or 64, but it's up to you.

North to south:
1. hevster1 (Mike) Montague, NJ www.mmautocycle.com
2. TDIRacing (Oliver) Baltimore, MD www.torquejunkie.com
3. Ninedee_Golf-Tdi (Tom) Stafford, VA http://forums.tdiclub.com/member.php?u=14402
This list should cover your route.

I'll let my GPS do the routing. Actually my post was made to obtain the names of local TDI specialists and not info about the route itself.
Thanks!

Thanks for the offer. A telephone number would be most helpful as I don't have a mobile data plan for internet access while I on the road. I couldn't locate that info on the web. I also was unable to find any contact info for TDI Racing in Baltimore, or Tom Stafford in VA.
I was able to locate contact info (phone and address) for M&M Auto/Cycle in Montague, NJ.
This is proving more difficult that it should be. I was surprised that the web sites don't have contact info readily listed. Try looking for that on TDI Racings' website. Real fancy web site, but I guess I'm missing something...I can't locate contact info!
Spoon feeding requested!
Thanks.

I totally spaced on the reason "Runnerguy" would be headed to the OBX last weekend. I had a few friends running down there. How was the rain?
