I'm totally speculating here, but given that the DSG is vastly more technical in design over a CVT, I doubt Nissan would be so quick to pull the trigger if they were using a dual clutch tranmission.

You couldn't even find someone from VW that would stand in front of their product.

Due to the urgings of VWCC, I brought my car back to the dealer again yesterday. The first thing I told the writer was that the trans still bangs into gear and I have a campaign number, S8. The writer didn't want to hear it. The second thing I told him was the car still has the occasional shutter/hesitation and that I have a bulletin number, TSB2020606/2. Again, he didn't want to hear it. The third thing was the steering column covers, which they broke when they changed the ignition switch. The last was the radio, which has had a failure code, probably as long as I've had the car. I tried to show him the VCDS print-out for the radio, but again, he wasn't interested in looking at it. Like a parrot, he kept asking me what was wrong with the radio and I kept telling him I don't know since I have nothing to compare it to. At that point, I threwy hands up in the air and told him to forget the radio.
After a couple of hours, he came over and told me my car was ready and they order the column cover. I asked him about the rest of the car and he said they scanned it and there weren't any codes. I asked about the radio code and he said the radio's working. He then asked me if I had the oil changed and I just stopped and glared at him. The subject was dropped. On my way home, I glanced at the RO while I was stopped at a light. For the line where I told him the car has an occasional hesitation, he wrote "Customer states going up a hill the car stalls". Of course they didn't find anything. I just can't believe how incompetent these people are.
When I got home, I checked my e-mail and had a follow-up from VWCC. In it, the rep said he tried to contact me. Well, either he was trying through telepathy or maybe he tried to channel me through a medium for there weren't any messages on my phones at work nor at home. Anyway, to show you how on top of things VW is with my car, this MENSA member suggested that I should request that a technician takes a ride with me in an attempt to identify any needed repairs. Wow, I never thought of that! He's good! This just shows you the lack of communications between all those involved at VW. When I write this guy back, I'll ask him if he wants any copies of the RO's where techs have ridden with me and said yes, the trans is banging. These people are unbelievable.

Disheartening, to say the least.
