If your car exibits these symptoms your advance solenoid is probably dead.

  • In VAGcom; timing is off the chart, pegged at 255 regardless of coolant or fuel temp.
  • Low power – the ECU reduces fueling to prevent engine damage.
  • Loud diesel clatter.
  • Poor fuel efficiency.
  • You may also be getting either an N108 open short code, or an needle lift sensor code

The collective VE portion of the membership sees these from time to time, but they're not super obvious unless you've seen 'em before. It's a good alternative to the blanket - "you need a new pump" answer.

do you know a cost or a location that retails them yet??

is there a test to show this is the issue before i replace??
