How To: Getting that eBay cable to work!

This sounds exactly like the problem I had with my first Chinese cable. Flaky as hell. Some times it would connect, but would be intermittent. It wouldn't connect to some modules. Gave up and got a Ross Tech cable. Has never given me a moment of a problem. Best money I ever spent on a VW/ Audi.

Just to close the loop, I popped for the real cable from Ross Tech, reset the airbag light, and then sold the car. So, now I am going to sell the cable and hopefully recoup most of the cost.

Using the VAG-COM 409.1 or VCDS-Lite software, can the ebay cable read the 01-Engine controller -> 08-Measuring Blocks?

VCDS-Lite can read Measuring Value Blocks (MVB). The shareware version of VCDS-Lite limits it to the first 025 groups.

The HEX-V2 is US$ 199.99 but amit9 does not live in the USA. Buying the V2 as I did cost almost $ 270.00 beaver bucks shipped to me from a company in Burlington, Ont. That's before the beaverbuck took a nosedive.
