Just like it says, has anyone developed some power additions for the 09 CBEA TDIs?

Ive seen the intake and exhaust that adds like 2hp, so im not interested in those at all. I mainly want something to help with the turbo lag.

thanks all.

Nah, I've read a bunch of threads and got tired of looking for a simple quick answer, last I read they still haven't developed a good tune for them.

You've found everything I've read then. There is one or maybe 2 people tuning them as of yet. However, Alligator tuning is running a test vehicle now but it will be a while so they can guarantee DPF compatibility and RC just won't do it until it's out of warranty. Sucks because these engines have to have amazing potential. The fuel delivery is so far superior to everything older, but it just doesn't matter that much with all the emissions limitations. I'd love to see a CBEA with a straight exhaust and a VNT-22 or larger framed turbo, tuned to the max. 250hp should be easy IMO. (I'm just guessing though)

Has anyone tried anything like an intercooler yet? 22 psi of boost could always use better cooling

They may have OEM FMIC's but that doesn't mean they are efficient. There could be numerous things blocking them from clean airflow, the charge pipes could be terribly designed, etc.

I haven't really torn into my car to look at any of this stuff so I figured I'd ask the question.

so far it seems like a whole bunch of hoopla.

As for the tunes, i seem to remember reading some posts on here about the factory ECU will slowly return to stock. Did i read that right? any truth to that?

no from what i have been told by Jose at JS performance; apparently the ecu cant see the chip because it is attached to the fuel rail.

give him a call here

IAT's according to Scan Gauge II on my car can be at ambient while cruising down the highway w/o the use of A/C. With the use of A/C they are about 10*F above.

The CR motors have pressure sensing glowplugs that supposedly detune the motor if a tuning box is used as the tuning box can't out smart the ECU. The motor really need to be tuned by reflashing the ECU. I know that RC has a few tuning programs for the CR motor I saw the dyno numbers and pricing about a year ago. i also know why they are waiting till cars are no long under warranty as some idiot owners are blaming tuning for broken timing belts and other stupid things. As stated in the original FAQ's you are your warranty if you mod.

Ok. How about at full boost? There's no way you're seeing more than 2-3 psi holding a steady speed on level ground. I'm just saying.

wow, you are correct, but how does this really effect the tuning module or ecu flashes??

If the ECU sees peak pressures higher then it's programming says there should be ( due to higher boost pressure or extra fuel being injected) it will decrease boost and/or fueling to correspond with it's programming. Tuning Boxes usually work by "fooling" one or more sensors to under report fuel pressure or increase injector timing to inject more fuel. Most of the really cheap Ebay PD tuning boxes worked by reporting incorrect fuel temps. One of the more dangerous things that some tuning boxes do on some common rail motors is increase rail pressure well beyond the factory design limit. The '09 ECU is smarter than previous model but it can't see the tuning box it just wants to run the motor within it pre-programmed parameters. So over time the ECU will correct the over pressure by "detuning" the motor rendering the box useless. Remapping the ECU changes the parameters in which the motor is allow to run E.G. higher boost pressure, increase fuel injected, higher cylinder peak pressure. The TDI Cup cars run a NA spec motor complete with DPF exhaust but with 170hp and 260ftlbs via a remapped ECU.

I contacted apr to see if they had anything planned for the CB
and they replied that they should have a software release
by Xmas, I'm assuming that means a remapped ECU. That's
all they have planned though.

How many people are running the f1tuning? How do you like it? I see people talking about more off idle power, what about the rest of the power band?

I have been running the Diesel Tuning box since last year. There is some improvement but not much. Adjusting the box to a higher setting creates a spark knock sound from the rail pressures so i had to turn it back. Iam ready for a reflash to see what happens but dont know who and it will be hard to be with out my car for a week!

Lots of people saying there is tuning, extreme lack of dyno's to show the gains..

I also would count on APR making a decent tune for a diesel.. Gasser? For sure...
