It's easy. Pull the belt, remove the tensioner, remove the shock, reassemble.

From what I'm told, if the tensioner's internal spring or the alternator pulley are malfunctioning, the shock won't last long.

And often a bouncy tensioner is a symptom of clutch pulley failure. Certainly was on my Golf.

So you may wanna check the alternator clutch pulley while you have the serp belt off.

Your alternator very likely has a clutch pulley on it - and that's what often fails.

There is a how-to describing how to check this. Often you'll see small metal shavings too.

Hey guys ...did the shock replacement yesterday. Dropped the panzer, washed the engine and undercarriage the night before , let it dry overnight. I like working on clean stuff. Easy job. Thanks for all the help and suggestions. Tom
