My cruise conrtrol recently stopped working and I figured good place to start would be the fuse but since none are marked cruise in the panel I am not sure where it is, can anyone help me find it?

There isn't a separate fuse. What else has stopped working?

Confirm the brake and clutch switches are operating (closed with pedal up, open circuit pedal pressed) confirm the activate switch in the stalk is functioning to "set" a speed. Those have been the most common locations for 'failures' in mine.
p.s. I still have the lower engine cover for that A3. Want it?

I will have to do some poking around then, sure I will take the lower cover, did you install nozzles in that A3? it feels pretty zippy:)

I've been told it is incorporated into the ECU unlike the gasser. My 95 gasser has it in the shift console.

When the cruise stops working, you should get out the VagCom and test to see what isn't working.

Could be brake switch, clutch switch, or cruise switch.

Since the TDI is drive by wire, it's entirely controlled by the ecu.

If you haven't seen it, try wingnut's writeup.

Search this one out. About 2 years ago my cruise stopped working and I found a post that outlined (with pics) how to remove the slide switch and squirt some WD 40 in there. Worked like a charm and it took maybe 30 seconds. Still working. p.s. I'd have searched for you but I'm on dial-up.

Those were in there when I bought it. I chalked up the performance level to the A3 being that much lighter than the B4V.
BTW, I got a B5.5V as a replacement to the A3.:p

Hi All

I have a '96 B4 TDi passat (1z) and was wondering if the only part needed to add cruise control was the stalk, and then plugging it into a vag-com to recognise it.

Do I need other parts to 'retro-fit' it or are they already on the car?

Thanks,
