Purchased a replacement engine from KCTDI out of a 2002 Automatic Jetta with 11mm pump, turbo, intake, turbo inlet, and everything to replace the busted one in the Golf. 120k miles on it.

Engine gets picked up tomorrow in Central MO, then next weekend, Ill be heading down to Bruces place for reinstall on Sunday. so, in one week, I should have my Golf back on the road. YAY~!!!!

Ill soon have some parts for sale... (gotta pay off the bleeding CC...)

Changed the transmission oil - old stuff was thick and muddy looking, probably been in there for the whole 575,000km - which fixed the grind going into 2nd & 3rd gears :)

Made a new plunger for the front passenger door open microswitch out of a nylon bolt.

That worked too, so it was a good day :)

Good deal, growler. I'm happy you found an answer so easily. 11mm and PP357s ROCK with a VNT-15 and RC3+. One of my favorite setups evah.

Installed a Highline CECM and OEM Bi-Xenon headlights on my 09.

Now I just gotta wire up the foglights and the Bi-Xenon shutter.

But for the meantime I am loving the Xenons.

I might consider the PP357s in the future, but for now, I will be keeping my Balanced Sprint520s.

$$ is understandably tight... :D

520s should also work well. I know this is a lot of work, but once it's done prepare to have some fun.

Yesterday

installed a brand new set of bridgestone potenza RE 070
a bit bigger than what I wanted (235/45 R17) but the price was right.
Also got a wheel alignment.

Today:
wash it up. And
replaced A/C compressor
and recharging the system right now at the shop

Delvi,
I'm gonna need tires sometime this summer or fall so I'll be interested on how the Bridgstones work for you.

Gave Gretchen, my 2010 JSW, a good road trip - 1200 miles over a week.

Fuel Mileage: 43.4 MKE-DET; 35.3 Local DET driving; 40.9 MKE-DET. Both 43.4 and 40.9 were done with a SW wind between 10-20 MPH.

Then gave Gretchen a well deserved bath Sunday to remove the road grime and today, she was dirty-rained on

I will let you know but the are soooo sticky, I have try several diferent ways to see if they brake loose around turns and nothing happens:D

They will probably will wear out quick, this are the tires that come from factory on the 2004-2007 Subaru WRX STI.

Spent 16 hours/$150 of gas yesterday in a rental Chevy full size pickup. Kingdom City, MO is a long ways away from Central KY.

Good news is there is a complete engine sitting on my garage floor. Thanks KCTDI!

A certain pickle-capped Indigo Blue Golf is about to have some surgery.......;)

No problem. Eric is prepping the patient for surgery while I'm working today.

To quote Scottie "ye'll rip the guts out of 'er, Kaptin". I'll endeavor to do just that tomorrow.
Take a few pics of the process with the guts strewn all over the floor will ya.

Wanna put them in my thread :)

I put some new 4300k HID bulbs in my Helix OEM reps, since one side had burnt out, so I figured I might as well replace both of them. It's nice having both working again.

How dark is that? It looks good.
It's 20%. It looks really dark because by the time I got the car "picture worthy", it was just about sundown. I'll take another in the sunlight sometime but it is definitely not "Limo" dark as it may appear in the photo.
