Diesel prices are falling slightly here on the AL gulf coast. Several stations peaked at just over $3/gallon over the Memorial Day weekend, but the range is down a good bit, ranging from $2.949-2.979.
One exception is a station that recently dropped the Chevron branding for BP. Their diesel is still $2.799/gallon, the same as it was at least two months ago. Since the pumps were swapped out with new hardware I decided to give it a try on my last fillup since it was much cheaper and so far it seems to be OK diesel, although I'm smoking under heavy throttle a lot more than usual. I imagine it's leftover Chevron diesel, but no way to know for sure.
Returning the BP branding to this area seems like a curious move, as we were hit hard by the fallout from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Every now and then I still see a bumper sticker that says "FBP" in one of those ovals that normally has the airport abbreviation of famous tourist towns in them.
