swap out 4spd auto for 6spd auto in 2k2 nb

Have a 2k2 new beetle with 4spd auto,and was wondering if the 6spd auto was a swap option,spend lots of time on the interstate and rpms seem a little past the sweet spot,mpg is around 40 give or take, this winter seems HARD to make 40 mpg. Is the 6spd a more reliable transmisson and what kind of cost is a swap like this? Thanks

You mean the DSG? You might do better looking into swapping in the 5 speed unit found in the 2004 and 2005.0 Jetta.
