Hello,
I searched for this problem and found a couple of similar threads but not much in the way of specifics for my car.
I have a 01 NB TDI with an automatic transmission. The engine is an A4.
The problem is that none of the gauges in my dashboard are working. The odometer and trip meter work fine. Cruise control and the various lights and indicators also all work fine. Oh, and luckily the low fuel indicator light and beep still work even though the fuel gauge isn't working. So the car is aware of all the measurements, and I'm lead to believe the problem is likely either a fuse or grounding.
I've had this problem for a long time now, and have just made do with the speedometer in my GPS unit, but if it's an easy enough fix, then I'd like to do it. I've seen the gauges come on maybe once for short period of time since the problem started, and now they're frozen at their last location.
I looked at fuses 11 and 15, and even swapped them out with a couple other 5amp fuses and it doesn't seem to help.
So that leads me to checking the ground wires. I saw a thread talking about the ground wires in a different engine, but I'm not seeing them in mine, at least from the top.
Can anyone give suggestions on the location of the ground wire to check and whether or not there is anything else to check?
Are there any connections I can check by pulling the IC out? Do I need to worry about immobilizing the car or screwing up the association with my key if I unplug the IC?
Thanks,
