Do you have an owners manual? A bentley? Get both! 100,000 miles is the accepted interval for the TB on a BRM although I think the OM says 80,000.

Thing is, the OM or the bently isn't hip to mount failure and cam failure and dmf failure like we are. That's why I'm putting together the real world, tdiclub 80K checklist.

Which mount is failing?

FWIW--I am going to 120000 on the TB..

I just did the DMF and used 10.8 grade bolts and replaced the TTY's which are junk...

Use the dogbone mount insert as well and get rid of another TTY...I got rid of all the TTY's on the dogbone mount and drilled mine to a M14 and got rid of the Dogbone mount failures once and for all...

TB change interval is 80k miles. It might be accepted not to change TB at all but that's not the right way to go.

Since BRM is a clone of European 1.9 L TDI engine, here are the maintenances for our engines:

Toothed belt change intervals

TOOTHED BELT CHANGE INTERVALS, TENSIONING ROLLER CHANGE INTERVALS

DIESEL ENGINES
Engine type Engine codes Period Change interval Tensioning roller

up to model year 2006

every 240,000 km

x2! I've also done that @85k miles. Mine is a 6-speed manual. Oil was *BLACK* like the sooth would be there...

Also, replace any charge air piping seals (O-rings) if the connections are weeping oil. That's what I did on mine. They are disconnected anyway.

Thanks for asking. My build date is 06/06 (I have the upgraded mounts that make changing the timing belt easier) and I downshift. I'm just saying I need to check my mounts since I saw a post about them failing. And after reading your post above about your mount fix, I think I'll print it out as an extra how-to.
