After the second dual mass conversion flywheel broke 250,000 had a single mass clutch installed. Getting a whining noise in 5th and 6th gear. Fluid changed and still whining. Any thoughts?

The bearings are going in the gearbox it sounds to me. I don't think the boxes can handle a solid flywheel.

I've heard that SMF setup hammers synchros.
250k miles is not bad for two DMFs. If DMFs are failing frequently, check your driving habbits and style.
