Good evening folks, was wondering if any body has done something like that at all?

2003 Jetta ALH with 5 speed manual tranny - is it possible to upgrade to a 6 speed tranny at all?

If so, are there any benefits?
Is it easy to do?
What has to be changed only the module or have to mess with the wires as well?

thanks in advance

Yes, it's very do-able and several people have done that conversion. It costs around $2,800. A much cheaper option is to install a 0.658, 0.671, or 0.685 fifth gear and sell your stock 5th gear to a gasser V-dub owner over at forums.vwvortex.com. Cost about $365 and your time, minus whatever you sell your stock gear for. I haven't done it myself. It can help pick up 2 hmpg, according to many who have.

Since it is a pricey modification, it would buy you bragging rights amongst those who know how pricey it is to do. Otherwise, they might ask themselves, "why?".
