A crazy deer
(rutting season) ran into my 96 Passat. I have a high deductable ($1000)so I want to keep the repair cost down. I need a hood, grill, headlight(s), sidemarker, radiator and radiator support replaced.
Insurance is giving me $2800 for the repairs. I want to use used parts or good aftermarket parts. What should I do? Where should I look?

Thanks, Kurt

I would go to vwvortex.com and look under the classified section (Passat all other models) because there are usually a few people parting out B4's. I would buy new engine parts because you would have zero idea of condition of radiator from a parted car. Plenty of online vendors to buy new TDI engine parts.

Any junk yards in your area? That's where I'd try. You could score some genuine VW sheetmetal (most aftermarket body panels are crap IMO) and not have to deal with shipping costs. $2800 in hand or $1800 because of your deductible? Sounds like you may be lucky they did not try to declare it a total loss
!

Good luck and fix it right, it's worth it.

I'd guess 95-97. It's possible 94, but I'm not sure when the change in the front end happened.

I can hook you up with new OEM Hella headlights for $120 each. The radiator (new) I can get for $275. Other misc parts I can get too, but not what you have listed. Let me know, I'm putting in an order on Friday.
Good luck!

Whew! I' glad this happened Friday. On Saturday, I mentioned to thermographer that I havne't read of any deer accidents lately. This was just before we saw four deer eating in a field.

I was afraid I jinxed ya.

hope it all goes well.
