anything to check repair after getting exhaust flap code

just picked up the exhaust flap code,on my 13 .
anyone have an idea what we can do first ,like lube something, clean anything.
I have a vag com, and tried an output test, but get aborted for safety on the test..

quick reply while on the clock- yes, just pull It apart and wire brush the crusty carbon off it- shoot it with some high temp lube (graphite) and your good to go. A few buried threads about this as well

Our was replaced under the extended warranty provided by VW on this part @ 32,000 miles, 3 years 3 months, no quibbling by the dealer in Barre VT

13;s even though they are the same valve, arent in the recall I read.
my code is not a stuck open etc, mine comes back as signal so thinking connection issue?

If the valve isn't fully opening or closing when the ECU commands it and the system isn't seeing the desired back pressure in the EGR, it'll say its a signal issue.

I'd bet dollars to donuts its sticking and if you keep driving it it will eventually stick open.
