I just bought a 2011 Q7 TDI and asked for a ash load reading before I bought it because it had 125K mi. The tech did not know the difference between ash load and soot. My VCDS shows .26 l (260 ml) ash loading but I can not find out what the max limit is. Anyone?
Thanks

***Virtually every tank since about 10k miles has had OptiLubeXPD.

This car is a kids taxi, lots of off/on/off, short trips. Several extended long roadtrips, and weekend "Italian tune-ups" to help clean things out. In town, I get right at EPA 30mpg, highway can still see 45mpg

I was expecting more ash than this, as I know TDIs prefer steady-state highway cruising. Some here predicted early DPF clogging, but so far, so good!

Our 100K Follow-up:

Model Year: 2009
Model: Jetta Sportwagen
Tranny: 6M
Miles: 100,999
Oil Ash Volume: 99
Oil Type: Mobil 1 ESP (since 30K)
Avrg. MPG: 38

Wife took over the wagon and the mileage accumulation has slowed somewhat. MPG has dropped off too. I stopped watching it quite some time ago, but the last 2000 miles showed 39 MPG. So I'd safely say she's getting 38 MPG. Lots more short (15-30 mile) trips than when I was taking it to the airport on a regular basis.

Well, add up another DPF failure on my 12 Jetta at 27k miles. I'll see if I can get a printout of the data log.

Have had two P0401 (EGR insufficient flow) codes/check-engine light occurrences since late reporting. One in mid-August that cleared itself in a day or two, and more just this week (CEL for a day, then it cleared, then another CEL for 2+ days, and that has cleared itself as well...). Current P0401 fault frequency is 8.

I am certainly not an expert, but based on my readings for the Jetta, I'd say your DPF may be filling up.

I think mine maxed at 180, but can't recall. If yours is 159, I'd say that could be the case.

Not sure why folks are posting requested regenerations.

this value will increment (count up) while driving, and go the other way during an active regeneration.

Gents- my apologies for not staying up with the recent posts. Work has me running ragged. Not to mention I can't find the most recent spreadsheet I did. So, give me a few days and I'll try and get the all the data up-to-date. Since I no longer have a DPF and ash accumulation is zero.... I hardly get on this site anymore.
:D
