Ea288 oil consumption

My 2015 GSW with 60k miles has always used 1 qt of oil between changes, since I bought it new in 2016. Is this typical, anyone else seeing this? Runs great otherwise, but at around 7500 miles on a 10000 mile oil change interval, I have to add a quart. This is well below VW’s acceptable oil consumption, but I’m still slightly concerned. My 2003 ALH doesn’t use any oil, so I expected the same with this car.

Yep, same here with 80k miles regardless of stock or upgraded turbo. Nothing to worry about. I typically add half to 3/4 a quart at some point in the 10k interval to keep it topped up.

Same here, 1/2q always between changes on 10k OCI. Even after 5x that CHECK OIL LEVEL!! warning light still startles me. I really should just top up before it tells me to do so but... :)

After my last oil change I was about 80 miles down the freeway in -4F weather and get:

Reduce oil level!

Tech added an extra quart that I needed to suck out.

New CPO 2015 GSW owner here. I got the low engine oil warning last week after 7k miles. I'm actually grateful for the warning light, as I don't check the oil level nearly as often as I should. My understanding is that most of the newer small 4 cylinder engines use oil more than older engines did. Still, it's disconcerting to get that warning!

I have to add 1/2-3/4 quart between changes. Pretty consistent between the 3 EA288's I have had. Switched away from the Castrol factory fill this go round to a 100% synthetic oil which has a much lower NOACK and higher HTHS. We will see if it makes any difference.

drive more any worry less, with the oil temp and level sensor, i only really open the hood to add more washer fluid.

100percent syn oils like pentocin 3 seem to make a difference. I've never had to add between 10k changes on all three tdis, one 2013, two 2015 tdis

No oil consumption to note for my car. 5k since my oil change. What type of driving do typically do? Most highway for me, 2k rpms. Wondering if more spirited driving has anything to do with it?

There are just too many to list....
We use Pentosin here, but I have not had enough data collected with the 2015s to comment on any oil usage trend with them. I check the oil on every car that comes in here, regardless of why it is here, so I generally know what engines have oil use problems. I have read here several times that the new engine does use a bit of oil. At least it is not like most of the VAG gasoline engines. Some of those can go through five liters in 10k miles. No kidding.

As you have read here, no need to add between changes for one, its a top tier oil .

Well I have a new 2015 Jetta that does not use any oil at this time just drove it 10,000 in three months no oil added . My other 2015 used a quart of oil every 5,000 miles and it was turned by kerma new one is not .

I usually change my oil ≈5-6k miles
If I'm lazy and I let it go to 7-8k then I usually have to add 3/4 quart
Wow you push it out to 5-6,000 miles? Dont most people still change their oil at 3,000 miles like weve done since 1901?

I used to change it every morning. Part of my morning routine ya know?
I drain it over night and fill it back up in the morning.
The filter is too annoying to do every day so I only did that once a week.

I change every 5k with either factory Castrol or mobil1 esp... never used any oil at 36,000 miles now. Always at the same level at drain as it is when I fill it.

Those are some expensive oil changes, and at twice the interval. Just don't understand why people like throwing money away and being environmentally irresponsible. Hopefully you're recycling that oil at your local parts store at least.

Mine has been very good. I did have to add a half quart at one interval. SO far the oil level is where it should be.

Just added one cup of oil this weekend 12,000 on this oil service . Oil analysis looks good. Going for 20,000 @liquimolyforlife

I have sold both of my cars that had the EA288 but besides adding 1/4 quart to one engine 6000-7000 miles into its life, neither used any oil,
