What else can go wrong with my wonderful 03 jetta tdi wagon (198,000 miles)? ((just replaced water pump, TB, brakes, tires, thermostat, cooling fan regulator))
It appears my automatic transmission is on it's way out.
I've been noticing what feels like "slippage" especially going up hills at lower speeds and on on-ramps.
Now my CEL is on and the code is P0811 (clutch slippage excessive).
I found 3 other posts on this topic, but no definite resolutions to the problem.
1) if i drive it till it literally dies on the side of the road, can i hurt anything besides the dying transmission?
2) anything i can do to slow transmission death or is it too late? any idea how much longer till it'll completely die on me?
3) what should i replace transmission with? I've seen some posts about converting to manual. Not ideal for me, but I'd do it if there was a huge cost difference.
