Auto Zeitung had a comparison review of 6MT 2WD crossovers, including the CX-5 Sky-D. (The others: BMW X1 18d, Audi Q3 TDI, Tiguan TDI, Kia Sportage diesel).
The Mazda has a significantly better Euro fuel economy rating than every other car in the compare, but on Auto Zeitung's test loop it actually returned the exact same fuel economy as the (much heavier) Tiguan and Q3. The BMW was a bit better, the Kia a lot worse.
In the end the Mazda was 4th place without and 3rd place with the value-for-money rating included. It however won the engine/drivetrain rating for being a bit quicker than the others and having the slickest MT. It also revs to 5000, is quiet and refined.
However, 20,000 km maintenance interval when all others are 30,000km?
I'd like to see the engine in something that's not a crossover.
