It is not on the bottom. It is on the top side under the bracket next to the transmission mount. You will have to support the transmission from underneath and remove the 4 bolts that mount the bracket. Then lower the transmission a bit so you can see under the bracket or detach it from the chassis mount and slide it to the side . Didn't I tell you how inconvenient it was?
If your trans is dirty and corroded you might have a hell of a time trying to read it. That is the only place that I know of where the trans is marked with the code. I don't think that it is identified in the software if you to call up the trans controller with VCDS.
If you still don't understand where it is I can get a pic of it.
