Gutted - Car making loud banging and black oily smoke from exhaust

Absolutely gutted, driving along in 3rd so put my foot down to give it some as you do - few seconds later loud banging knock and black some from exhaust. Thinking turbo shot or bottom end gone?



Can't believe it - I change oil sunday, decided to put some 15w 40 in to maybe quiet it down abit, and also did a mr muscle clean on the turbo via the egr blaking plate down to the turbo, which I've done a couple of time previously with no problems


Got a video of the sound, going to try and uplo ad it some how.

If the big bottom ends were gone would there be any kind of smoke?

Sounds like the bottom end is knocking and seems to come from the lower cam area .

Suspecting cam belt tensioner has snapped as seems like there is slack on the belt and also couple of days ago heard something fall off and hit bottom of car, initially thought arb link bolt snapped.

Any suggestions on putting it right , timing etc, inspecting am handy with tools done the clutch last month, now this
