2003 Jetta Tdi Wagon, Bought September 2009 with 60,000 Km on the clock. Died September 2013, at 142,000 km. in a collision with a moose. 2006 MklV BEW Jetta wagon Bought October 2013, 136,000 Km.
Hello
My spouse's Ford Focus has reached the point where the dealer wants to try to force us into a new car by confronting us with huge service bills.
Seeing as David at Ottostadt doesn't want to darken his door with these shabby wheels (I can relate), can anyone recommend a trustworthy and reasonably priced technician who can keep this car going until we give it to the kids next year? No specific problems with it now, but I want to keep up with safety issues and preventative maintenance.
We live in centretown, but I would cross town for a good mechanic.
Thanks

These guys are pretty good ... honest and reasonable. They are mobile but do have a shop for more involved work (which you may need ?) They will not up-sell .... just do the work that is required ..

yep read the question before answering .... :)
I completely understand the frustration with people asking questions that have been asked a hundred times before. I'm probably guilty of it myself. But I honestly don't know how one would search this question, and I doubt it has been asked recently.
Still I'm reaching out to the TdiClub people because there seems to be a high concentration of competence and experience here, and I've had a fair amount of bad experience with getting the Focus serviced.
Thanks for the link, by the way.

My brother is very good. He works at the Canadian Tire in Rockland. If he feels a part is not worth replacing he will tell you.

My father in law is also a machanic at the corner of Bronson and Carling. He specialises in front end, suspention and brake work.

Are you referring to E&L Automotive? I used to go to him, then I stopped...

Yep, he works there. :) You just have to watch out for the Italian pride from the owner. LOL. the owner is a super ncie guy, but once you piss him off or don't agree with him, he holds a grudge. lol.

My father in law is the short one that works there. you can tell because he hoist never goes more than half way up. :p

Well, I stopped going there after a repair job that didn't last, and then it turned out they did some damage during the job, and wanted me to pay to fix their damage plus the re-repair. That to me is unacceptable. So I had to pay another mechanic to fix it.

It is kind of too bad that it turned out that way though, because until then, they were cool. The owner even told me I could bring in my car and use their hoist for my own repairs on Saturdays if I wanted to, etc, which is super nice. So it made no sense to me how things turned out.

Just had these guys do some work on my car today. Their mobile service is SUPER convenient. Only $75 an hour too. I would also recommend them.
